Part 1
Chapter 1: Anonymous
Walking back home was the worst time of the day and you might ask why for Eden, well anxiety was the problem. Ever since Eden found out that he used to have a sister, his parents turned their backs on him. This was what causes the anxiety to flow around his bloodstream, he doesn’t know why this was so troubling to his parents. They showed love to him but deep inside, he knew that their hearts were empty. Two blocks from home, he turned an alley and went down the narrow walk way until he reached the other side. He jumped on a garbage can and then leaped onto a ladder hanging from a porch on the third floor. He wasn’t that athletic but when he was going to visit his uncle's bar, nothing could stop him. CRREEEEAAKKK, CLANG! The ladder fell off the porch and sent Eden flying into the garbage can. Oh DANG IT. But Eden wasn’t going to quit, he ran to the wall where the porch was perched and scaled every crack in the brick wall. He reached the railing on the porch and heaved himself over. CLANG, he hits the wood that covers the porch floor. He opened the bars door and went in. “HEY!, look who’s here!” Bordy exclaimed as Eden stumbled in, his fingers were still sore from climbing the wall. As always, Bordy gave him the ‘Uncle hug’ and slammed down a mug of coffee flavored ice cream sundae. His uncle’s bar was a lively place always filled up with people from all over the city. Lamps were found in every corner and a big board hanging from the roof had every single beer and wine you can order. Bordy was a plump optimistic guy with a nicely shaved beard and always has a big broad smile perched on top. He always wears one of those Hawaiian shirts with coconut trees imprinted all over it. Bordy was probably Eden’s favorite person. “What brings you here today?” Bordy asked in his happy voice. “Well, the same as always,” Eden sighed “Sometimes, I really want to run away.” “Hey look kid, you know your parents love you right?” “No they don’t!” Eden slammed his head onto the bars counter. “Truthfully they don’t” “Well if they don’t, then why do they still care for you, give you your needs to grow up, hey have another one.” Eden allowed his Uncle to slide another cup of coffee flavored ice cream sundae into his hands. He drank it in silence. “Look, I think I’ll go home,” Eden said to his uncle. “I'll think about it.” ⚪ ⚪ ⚪ “BYE!!! GO AWAY!” “But-” “GO!” Eden slammed the door behind him and ran. It was two days since he visited his uncle and now he was kicked out. Eden sprinted to his uncle's bar and scaled the wall again. He banged open the bars door and ran into his uncle's arms sobbing. “Whoa Whoa Whoa, slow down ED! What’s wrong?” Eden spilled out everything. He cried while he talked and he spoke so fast that Bordy had to bring him to the back of the bar to calm him down. After quite a while of conversation, Bordy decided to let Eden live with him. Eden was happy from then on until one afternoon… Chapter 2 Two years after the incident, Eden was drafted to SOM by teleportation. BAM, he landed on a wooden floor. OW. The first thing that came to Eden’s mind was, where am I? He was laying on the floor of an enormous room. A glass dome covered the room letting in sunlight. An old man stood above Eden wearing a long dark blue robe and holding a- Wait is that a staff!?!?!?!?!!!!????? “You must be Eden Geihjen,” the man said in his gruff voice. “Who are you?” Eden demanded. A few seconds ago, he was asleep in his bed. And now, he was laying on a dirty wooden floor in the middle of no where. “Shut up boy,” the man replied, “the headmaster needs you in the common room right now, no time to waste.” The man lifted Eden up to his feet and walked him to a hallway with carpeted floor. Eden suddenly stopped in his tracks. “What’s wrong?” the man said, “we have to get to Dr. Matze.” “I’m not going anywhere until you tell me where I am!” now Eden was really creeped out. Where is he? Who was this man? How did he get here? “Don’t make me force you to our destination,” the man said in a calm voice. Eden tried running away, but after a few steps, he felt a pull on his jacket that he wore to sleep that night. What the heck? The man was not holding on to his clothes, an invisible force was dragging him back. Then he figured it out, there had been rumors in his city that there was a school in north west Idaho teaches magic to kids with a smart enough personality. And now this wizard was casting spells on him! This is crazy! What was his uncle doing, he is probably worried as- “Whaaaaaa!!!” Eden was levitated into the air and sent flying down the long hallway <>. BAM!! His head hits the door at the end of the corridor and the force sent the door flying open. The instant Eden hit the floor he could hear many people talking inside the room that he just ran into, or flew into. All the talking stopped when he entered. Kids about his age froze as they stared at the newcomer. Eden fell unconscious. Chapter 3 Eden woke up with all the kids, or should he call them students, surrounding him. They were all murmuring about something. As Eden started becoming conscious, he noticed that the kids standing around his limp body were not murmuring, they were chanting something like an incantation. His face turned red from embarrassment when he remembered what had happened. He tried to stand up but the force that he felt last time was pressing down on him now. A young man came to the center of the circle and stood above him. He was probably in his late twenties. “Get up,” the person said. “I can’t,” Eden replied “Try.” “What!?” this guy is weird. “I am your headmaster and you listen to me or else-” “Okay okay, don’t make such a fuss or else a waffle eating gorilla will come and stick a pacifier up your humongous nostrils,” the kids around Eden burst into laughter. Eden could see the headmaster’s face turning purple from the insult that seemed to be a joke to the other kids. Eden started straining on the force that was pressing him to the floor and finally broke free. The headmaster turned away and said the thing Eden was least expecting: “Let him stay, have him as a Wizard.”XXXXX “I like this guy,” Eden heard a student say to another. Several students came to Eden and congratulated him for making it to SOM. “What’s SOM?”Eden finally asked “School of Magic,” a girl walked up to him. “Hi, I’m Dasy Geihjen. I’m your sister.” ⚪ ⚪ ⚪ “Your my sister! I thought you were dead!” Eden was yelling at Dasy. This was just totally unbelievable, “And your already finished with this stupid school where everyone is like, Ooh, magic, so awesome." “Geez, calm down,” Dasy replied. “Alright but your 1 year younger than me, so you started this school at eight years old.” “Yep, 3 year course, nothing spe-” “And you start today!” It was that guy that had met him at the room with the dome. He grabbed Eden by the arm and walked him away. He ended up in a small classroom with all kinds of small objects. The room had a musty smell and Eden couldn’t help it but cough. The old wizard sat him down in a chair and looked down at Eden with menacing eyes. “You are going to be taught privately cause you are special. Your sister was done the same. And I will be your mentor.” What does he mean by special? First the strange man told him to do some magic. Eden took out a deck of cards but the wizard burned the deck to ashes and said to do real magic. “What? I can’t do real magic!?” Eden replied after staring at the old man for a while. “Try.” “Wow, now you sound like the headmaster himself.” Eden replied slowly. “And you kind of look like him.” “Well, if your not going to do anything in 3 minutes, I am going to literally, not practically nor basically, throw you into that lake outside,” the man replied in the same tone Eden was talking in. “How about technically or really” Eden joked. “Your at two minutes.” That was not one minute that passed though, Eden thought. Eden peered out the window and saw what the man meant by lake. There were alligators with megalodon sized teeth peering out of the water and hippopotamuses with two mouths swimming around swallowing frogs that duplicate every two or so seconds. As you should know, Eden did not want to be in a situation with tug of war between alligators and hippos and him being the “rope”. Eden started trying to do some “Magic” as the person in front of him stared intently at Edens hands. “One minute.” Eden was now really confused about how to do magic and then he remembered the students that were surrounding him in the common room earlier in the morning. Incantation! Eden tried to say something that might make his fingers send out sparks or something: “Uhh, Abrakadabra??” nothing happened. “Twenty seconds.” “Doofydarfusdomycoo??” “Recautasaabulutata??” “Um, hoofyratustatmememee??” “Five seconds,” the man said in his calm voice. “Uh... Pikachu!” Eden waved his hands as he said it and paint gushed out of Edens mouth. Soon enough, a green Pikachu was painted over the table. The other man laughed as he clapped his hands in approval. “I gave your sister the same test and she had the same result but instead of a Pikachu, she painted herself!” the wizard laughed. Strangely, Eden didn’t taste any of the paint that had poured out of his esophagus and his mouth was still dry. Over the next couple of hours, Edens mentor kept on teaching about simple spells and how to cast them. He told Eden that wands, potions and charms are just to help cast spells and incantations, but all the while, he was thinking about his uncle, what was he doing now?? After, the lesson was over, the school headmaster brung him to his dorm, he would be sharing a room with his sister. It was noon and lunch was served in thirty minutes, so he thought that he might as well explore the place before lunch and make some friends. Surprisingly, Eden found the school not really large, not even half of the size of Harry Potter’s castle. That was a really popular series in the school. DONG DONG DONG DONG DONG DONG DONG DONG DONG DONG DONG DONG DO- That made Eden jump out of his skin as he forgot about the time. He was admiring a dark green robe used by a ranger that had came to the school seventeen years ago. The owner was named Lackrizor. When he peered out of the room he was in, he could see crowds of students all running in one direction. One grabbed his arms dragging him in the direction of the Dining hall. It was Dasy. “You want a good seat, come on.” Eden ran with the crowd, some were flying or opening portals. Dasy dragged Eden into the air and opened a portal herself and dragged Eden through with her. They landed in line, seventeenth place, Eden could see and when they got to the front, he could see what they had for lunch. Burgers. Plain. Burgers. Just Burgers. Wow. I. Thought. This. Was. Magic. School. Sad. Boo. Hoo. Hoo. WAAAAAH. Eden and Dasy sat down to eat in a far corner of the cafeteria. There was 13 tables, 4 in each corner, and the other nine are placed in a spiral in the center of the room. “Hey, if you are done with your study, here, why are you still here?” That was Eden. “Oh, you haven’t heard? After you finish, you have to mentor three students and then you get to choose if you want to stay and be a teacher or go out into the world.” Dasy explained in her sweet voice. “So you are on your first ‘apprentice’ and who are you teaching?” “A third year student named Nickel. Wait have you met your spirit pet yet?” “Wait you get pets?!” exclaimed Eden. “Yeah, I got a panda” Dasy waved her hands and a baby panda landed into her arms.”Meet Turt!” Chapter 4 Eden was sitting in his dorm while thinking about this unexpected event when someone knocked on the door. Eden had the afternoon off so he didn’t think anyone would disturb him. When he opened the door, something white and black flew into his face, knocking him back into his bunk bed. “WAAAAH!!” He could hear his sister laughing in the doorway. She closed the door behind her and sat down with Eden. Her afternoon teaching was over. “Get off of me!!” Eden was trying to pull the panda off his face but the creature just hung on. His sister had to tell the cub to come back to her and they just sat together chatting after that. Magic was difficult to learn but when you get the hang of it, it just flows like water out of your mouth. “Hey, how about you showing me some magic?” Eden asked after a while of playing the panda. “Really? You sure? Cause sometimes I do the wrong movement and you would probably get blasted out of the window and-” “Oh, come on, I’m your brother, it’s not like your going to be an epic show off or something!” They argued for a while and when his sister finally gave up, Eden sat on the floor with his knees tucked in to watch. “Okay watch, what do you see in this orb,” slowly, Eden could see the gas in the room start to materialize in her hands. Inside, he could see a faint outline of 3 marbles. He told his sister what he sees. “How do you do that?” “Archligisist and the mustaniantol spells together. I don’t think you know what they are but it has the skill of an illusionist to cast.” Next, she turned the table in the room into a fox and with little effort, changed it back. She also put Eden to sleep and forced his dream to have her inside. Well when Eden woke up, he was ready to punch his own sister put she levitated him into the wall. “What do you think??” His sister asked after a few more tricks. “Cool.” ⚪ ⚪ ⚪ A few months past and now Eden was being tested for a spirit pet. He still didn’t know his mentors name and now he had afternoon courses. But the wizard that was teaching him the magic was still very mysterious so today, Eden gathered up his courage to ask the man his name. “Wow, you finally ask,” after the question. “You can call me Henor. Lets get on with it. Tell me what you want as a spirit pet.” “What! You get to choose!” “No.” “Oh.. Um… A, Albatross.” “Okay,” He replied. “Now tell me your birthdate and address.” “June 16th 2006, address is 9995 Norwak Drive,” Eden was creeped out, was he trying to get his information? “Favorite season.” “Winter.” “Okay your spirit pet is a wolf.” 😱😱😱Am I supposed to say OMG??!!! “Here,” Henor handed him a potion. “Drink it.” “What, you want me to drink this gray liquid!! What’s it going to do to me! Is it poisonous?! I’ve have never drunk one of these and I’m never going to!” “Just drink it kid and shut up or I will put some tape on that hole in your face!” Eden drank the liquid slowly. It tasted sour and kind of bitter. When he finished, he felt a tingle on the back of his hand and as he dragged up the sleeve of his dark green robe, he could see the imprint of a wolf on it. It was a sleek gray wolf standing while it howled at the moon- no wait, a sun!? “How am I supposed to summon it?” Eden said quietly as he marveled at the tattoo. “Wave your hand like this.” Henor waved his hands in a streak that flowed from one hand to the other and a snake fell into his arms. Eden tried and he got it on his first shot. Henor said that it was surprising that he was the only one in the academy that could do it with such ease and the cub fell into his arms a few seconds later. It nipped Edens arm with satisfaction and licked his face. “You name him,” Henor said as he ran his hand down his own cobra. “Retchen,” replied Eden as he hesitantly ran his hand down the cubs back. As he said the name the cub looked up at Eden with its light blue eyes. Eden didn’t know why the name just came out but it fit the wolves look. The cub jumped onto Eden’s shoulder and behind the cub left a blue sparkling streak. “It is your duty to take care of it and teach him magic. You are lucky that you got a wolf because they are fast learners and very good companions. Your hand will twitch when it is hungry and ask your sister how to get the cubs food because I have no more time.” The room turned dark after Henors last words and when the room lit back up again, Eden was the only person in the room, except if you count Retchen as one. Chapter 5 Over the next couple of months, Eden learned how to cast spells without thinking, the ability to transform into different animals, protection spells and on his second year, how to fly. This time of the year was very special for him because he always had looked forward to this. He zoomed around the building that had a glass dome, which turned out to be where you are allowed to practice your spells. One evening, he was allowed to duel against other students, won seven out of nine of them, the two he lost against were a year older than him. This is what basically happened: Eden and the person, named Dawn, get into the dueling station with fifty or so other people watching. As soon as they shook hands, the two got into their stance to wait for a call from the ref, or in this case, the renor, and when that happened, the tweet from the whistle was so loud that Eden fell to his knees covering his ears. That made him an easy target and so when he braced for the impact of Dawns spell but after a few seconds, nothing happened so Eden decided to look up and as soon as he did, he knew the decision was wrong. The next thing he knew, vines as thick as trees dangled him in the air by his arms. Now he couldn’t cast a spell, but surrendering wasn’t the first thing that came to mind, he remembered a spell his sister taught him a few days ago, you didn’t have to use your hands for this one. Eden was able to conjure it from inside him right before Dawn cast another spell on him. The spell was forbidden in most parts of the school, but this was an arena. Eden’s body burst into flames burning the vines to its last inch before breaking away. He landed with fire devouring him and lunged at the surprised student. It was seconds before Eden could declare victory but underestimating his attacker was never something he did before. Dawn blasted a powerful torrent out of his chest smothering the fire that engulfed Eden. Eden didn’t see that coming and so he slammed into the wall without even trying to conjure a protection spell. Training Retchen was easier than Eden thought, his sister had her panda conjure a recipe for the wolf, surprisingly, the recipe included a coffee flavored ice cream sundae, which he could ask Bordy for. And oh, about Bordy, when Eden had his winter break, he asked his sister to teleport him back to his uncle’s home, when he saw Bordy he immediately told him about SOM, and that he was sorry for not telling Bordy about it earlier. Eden’s uncle just smiled then said “It’s not like I’m the dumbest person in the world you know,” and left. That left Eden staring and gaping at where his uncle was just standing a few seconds ago. Later when he went to ask his uncle for what he said meant, he just shrugged and kept on washing the dishes from lunch. That kept Eden thinking, did his uncle think he was joking and didn’t that Eden was out of the house for a while, or maybe he knows about SOM. That last thought came to Eden slowly like he was an ant and was just about to get stepped on. UHHHHH… Anxiety, hate that feeling it just won’t go away. “So who’s your new apprentice?” Eden was in his second year, taking a walk with his sister in the school courtyard with a vast line of trees on the east and a garden to the west. No reply, Eden looked to the left of him but his sister wasn’t there anymore. Oh come on, why does she have to leave him unsuspected there. Suddenly, Eden heard a scream from behind him and when he turned his head to see what happened, a red streak barreled into him. He was sent flying backwards. Eden caught a glimpse of what was happening, his sister was being held up at the scuff of her neck by a person wearing a dark green cloak, hood was on. Dasy was suffocating from the lack of air. As soon as Eden hits the cobblestone of the path he was walking on, he got up and shot spell that had a green ball streaking through the air. The hooded man that was torturing Dasy threw her in the way of the spell and, SLING, the streak whipped across his sisters face. She screamed from the pain. The hooded man took out a scythe with three colored stones engraved on the blade and slammed it against the ground causing an earthquake. “AAAAAAH! Help!!!!” Eden fell off balance. When he was up again, he lunged at the man but he held up the scythe and cut a deep gash in his face. The pain was still throbbing when he got up and this time, without thinking of what he was doing, he took out a deck of cards and threw card after card at the man. As soon as each card left Eden’s hand, they turned into blades. The hooded person turned into gas before any of the blades could slice threw him and when Eden’s hand was empty, the man reappeared right in front of him sending a powerful blow to Edens head. The next thing he could make out from his blurry vision was that all professors from the academy popped out of thin air. The hooded person suddenly glowed a blinding yellow, he was using the spell of interuvation. WHACK! The perfessors were knocked off their feet. The spell was powerful because nothing can counter it or stop it, even though it didn’t do much damage. The sky suddenly turned black and clouds loomed above Eden. What could he do? This man was so powerful and even if he tried, he knew it would put his sister in danger. One of the professers that got up first used a spell that levitated Eden’s sister back to safety, but without warning, time went backwards. He could see one of the stones on the mans scythe glow. Before they could do anything, the man grew another arm and that he used to hold Dasy. With the other two, he took his scythe and lunged at the nearest professer. With no hesitation, the professer out of the way and blasted some powerful spells at the intrudor. “What are you doing here!” The proffesor yelled over the noise he was causing with his spell. No reply. The hooded man suddenly teleported behind the unsuspected professer and sliced the wizard in half. Eden’s eyes grew large as he saw what was happening. What was the other teachers doing, they watched! What the heck! Why aren’t they doing anything?? But before Eden could shout at the professors, the hooded man... Slit… Dasy’s… Throat… Chapter 6 Bewilderd, Eden got to his feet. How could this have happened? Can’t Dasy defend herself with magic? After all, she finished her studies a year ago and now, all he could do was stare at the limp body of his sister. Dead, laying on the cobblestone. Suddenly, Eden’s body was filled with regret for how carelessly he walked off without even seeing his sister suddenly gripped and pulled back. Rage and fury engulfed his mind and he ran to his sister’s dead body. Picking it up with suprising strength, he flew back to his dorm leaving the group of professers dumbfounded at what just happened. When he got back to his room, he layed his sister on the bed. Eden has not cried in years, but this! He had bonded a close relationship with his sister ever since they met. While he was wiping off the blood caused by the gash in his face, Dasy’s body suddenly twitched. Then she stirred and one eyes blinked open. Eden jumped. “Whoa! Your still alive!” Eden couldn’t believe what he was seeing. “I am?” for some reason, Eden’s sister was just suprised as he was. “This isn’t heaven?” “Wha-wha-what the fuck!” Eden was so shocked that he couldn’t talk right. “I’m not hallucinating right!?” Eden added, his voice trembling the two hesitantley touched eachother to make sure this wasn’t some, I don’t know? Dream? “I’m actually not dead!” Chapter 7: Dasy When I saw Eden, I immediatley knew that he is my brother. When I was slit in the throat, I was sure that I will die but that last moment, when I woke up, I can’t explain how bewildered I was. I know what happened, that kept me alive, the thing that was actually suprising was that what kept me alive was real. My brother is so dumbfounded afterwards that I had to shake him with a spell to get him conscious again. This was probably the coolest thing that happened to me, the Roxint inside of me and Eden actually exists. You know how the proffesers call me special, well this is what they meant. My great grandmother came to this Academy before and she found a Roxint charm. She gave it to me and I, transfered it to my brother with magic when I was borned. My great grandmother saw how my parents treated me so she sent a retriever to bring me to SOM. Magic is a craft, not anything else. I started the craft when I was eight, to young to not believe what was happening. But now sitting on the bed with my brother, I knew we would stick together for the rest of our lives. “Do you know who you’re competing against first?” It was ten days after the incident. The school was holding a tournament to strengthen up the students to fight against the intruder if he comes back again. Winner gets a few days off. It was morning and we just started the competition. “A second year named Corean,” Eden sounded annoyed. “What’s wrong with her?” I question. She’s a good student and all but I might have an image of what was on Eden’s mind. The girl was a talented fighter, had a specialty for physics and all but when she uses her spells, they almost always hit. “You’ll be fine, at least you have Recthen, he can defend you against almost anything. You taught him well.” “I’m just worried about Corean’s parrot, rumors says that whenever she uses the bird, she’s unstoppable because of the damage that spirit pet can do.” It turned out that Eden won with so much ease, the other students were shocked. They have never seen the Auticolator spell in action. Eden used it to finish off Corean and her parrot. Here’s a quick summary of what happened in my brothers battle;
I won my battle too. And the next, and the one after that, and so on until I was in the final four. Exhausted. It was the sixth day of the tournament. Eden was in the finals too. I don’t know how he made it but whoa, he would have to battle two professors. It was my turn tomorrow to battle. I won luckily. Eden, not so lucky. Now, it was me against a well known proffesor named Dr. Bent©. I didn’t win. Sad. Chapter 8 Third apprentice. Yay. One more year to go. I don’t sound enthusiastic right? I’m not. Truthfully not. Why? Eden still has four years and I want to stay with him. I am his sister after all. I don’t know what I would do. I asked him if he had any ideas but he just replied with a: “Suit yourself” He was in a bad mood, I could tell but I couldn’t resist getting angry at him. I’m fourteen now, I should be able to control my anger. Chapter 9: Eden I’m on my third year. Yay. Hey do I sound like my sister? Well you don’t learn much as a third year. The first few weeks, Henor just told me to review what I learned so far. Not much. He tested me. I go t a 91. Not bad. I’m bored. Two days had passed but something strange started to happen. Students started getting sick. My sister got the flu and I developed asthma. People all over the school were panicking. Suddenly the school siren went off. But after a couple of beeps, a humongous boulder came crashing in. I was in the cafeteria when this happened. Students scattered everywhere screaming for their lives. I jumped and flew to the other side of the room. I choked from going so fast so my sister had to carry me the rest of the way. When I looked up, I saw swarms of dark green robed figures in the sky shooting spell down into the school causing explosions. Chaos devoured the Academy and professors started gathering groups to defend the school. War was everywhere and the unexpected attack sent all students retreating into their dorms. “Come back!!!” It was the school headmaster. Tiles on the roof crashed down into the courtyard and Dasy flew away to help fight the battle. I knew I should do the same so I located an enemy fighting first years students knocking them out one by one. I flew through the dust and debree reaching the small group of terrified students. There were spirit pets everywhere too. I quickly knocked out the enemy with the ender spell and flew to another group of young students that needed help. I knocked out a few more intruders getting bruises and cuts everywhere. “OW!” An enemy was attacking me from behind my back. I turned around and blasted a blinding beam out of my palm knocking the intruder off his feet. These people sure are weak! Suddenly, without warning, the headmaster jumped into the middle of the clearing casted a spell that sent all the intruders back into the sky. I could see the head masters hand glow yellow and a blanket swooped a few more intruders back. “HELP!!!!!” I turned my head to see a first year student stabbed in the side by a sword one intruder was holding. Dead bodies layed everywhere, some people were weeping from a death of a friend or a family member. Many were wounded, unable to fight. The intruders unexpectedly backed off into a portal at the east side of the school and dissapeared.
